Privacy policy

BetterFuture helps you find jobs in Korea using your resume. This policy explains what we collect, why, where it goes, and the rights you have under Korea's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

1.What we collect

Account data: your email, name and preferred language, and an identifier from your sign-in provider (for example Google, Apple, Kakao, Naver or LINE).

Resume data: the file or text you upload and the profile we build from it — work history, education, skills, languages, work authorization and job preferences.

Activity: matches we've scored for you, your decisions (saved, applied, passed), application notes and dates, and the documents you generate.

Payment: your plan and payment status. Card details are handled by our payment processors (PortOne, Stripe) and never reach our servers.

2.What we don't keep

We automatically remove resident registration numbers (주민등록번호) and photos from uploaded resumes before storing anything. We do not ask for or store sensitive information such as health, religion or political views.

3.Why we use it

To build your profile, score and explain job matches, write tailored documents, operate your tracker, process payments, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your data or share your resume with employers unless you send it yourself.

4.Overseas transfer to our AI provider (consent)

To parse resumes, explain matches and write documents, we transfer personal information overseas as described below. Before you upload a resume, we ask for this consent separately from consent to collection and use.

Recipient: Anthropic, PBC (an AI model provider in the USA)

Country: United States

What is transferred: your resume contents (name, contact details, education, career, certifications, languages) and profile, plus job posting text

Purpose: AI processing to parse your resume, explain matches and generate documents

When and how: each time you upload a resume, refresh matches or generate a document, over an encrypted network connection (TLS)

Retention by the recipient: per the provider's data-retention policy (pending legal review)

Your right to refuse: you may refuse, but without this consent we can't provide resume-based matching or documents. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings; withdrawing deletes your stored resume, profile, matches and tailored documents.

Anthropic processes this data only to return results to us and does not use it to train its models under our commercial terms.

5.Retention

We keep account data and activity while your account is active. We keep your resume and profile until you withdraw consent or delete your account.

When you withdraw consent, we delete your resume, profile, matches and tailored documents; jobs you saved or applied to and your tracker are kept. When you delete your account, we delete all of your data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (for example payment records under the Electronic Commerce Act, kept for 5 years).

6.Your rights

You can access, correct, export and delete your data, and withdraw consent, at any time. Export, delete and consent withdrawal are available in Settings; for anything else, contact us. You may also request that we suspend processing, and you can complain to the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC).

7.Processors

We use: Auth0 (sign-in), Anthropic (AI processing), PortOne and Stripe (payments), and cloud hosting providers. Each processes data only on our instructions.
